Sunday Outing

Sunday outing the Norwegian way. Fairly cool weather, 41 degrees, foggy and some rain. A dull day. There is, however, no such thing as poor weather, just poor clothes. So dressed up with jackets, fleece, long-johns which of course was a challenge for this family right now, we drove off to the meeting place. Then a muddy one-mile walk along a rather rough path. Mostly uphill and some downhill, a few quizzes on the way, and after 45 minutes we all arrived at a nice BBQ area along a little lake. Very nice, very wet.

Of course this would never happen in the US. This was a voluntary trip, all the kids in Tia's class, their parents, siblings and friends. But the temperatures was somewhat below normal, and it rained. Both good reasons to stay home. But not in Norway. I mean this is the country of the Vikings. We found America first (492 years before Columbus, no less). We crossed Greenland first, came first to the South pole, first to drift in a boat across the arctic basin, found the North East passage, and probably a lot more. We don't let some rain stop us.

Fires were lit when we arrived. All brought sausages to put on the grill, some brought cakes to share.

And when we arrived home a few hours later there were hot baths and hot chocolate waiting for the kids.
